5) CASE STUDY :

Prithvi Executes Microfilm Scanning order.

History:

M/s. JDS IT Solutions Pvt. Ltd. had received the order for county in Florida State through NDS USA LLC, Florida, for scanning of 16mm microfilm images in two phases. The total volume is of 10 million images. Phase 1 is of 4 million 16mm microfilm images to be scanned in two months. Phase 2 is of 6 million 16mm microfilm images to be scanned in three months. M/s. JDS IT Solutions Pvt. Ltd. approached Prithvi for execution.

The Challenge:

The job involved scanning of microfilm image in tiff format, cleaning, deskewing, despeckling, and indexing. Considering the facts that the microfilming was of the originals of various sizes. They were also not properly aligned. The rubber stamp of the county was so faint that the auto clean software would have eliminated the rubber stamp impression. Secondly, auto indexing was not possible since many documents were with enclosures.

 

The Process:

In order to achieve atmost speed, Prithvi decided to execute the job on Sunrise Scanner, since our operators are well trained on the scanner. We were able to achieve approximately 26000 scans per 6.5 hrs. Shifts. We also decided to work in three shifts giving a daily output of 78000 images. For auto cleaning Prithvi decided to make a best use of Scanfix software. We have deputed 12 operators per shift for quality checking, deskewing, despeckling, CD authoring etc.

Result:

The job was executed in 52 working days with ‘NIL’ rejection & now, we are waiting for microfilm rolls of 2nd phase.
